Pilot-DB Issues (a.k.a. 'DB' - the free database program used by PregTrak)

Q:  I've logged my delivery to Pilot-DB but I can't see anything!

A: The first time you run Pilot-DB, you may need to tell it to Refresh it's files so that it can find the PregTrak5 Data database.  From within the main screen of Pilot-DB, press the Menu button, and then go to Refresh.  It should now be present for future use.

Q: How do I print my logged deliveries or view them on the desktop?

A: Download and install the also free desktop viewer DB-Editor available here or at PalmGear

The first time you run DB-Editor, you will need to tell it where your database is located, which is usually going to be:

C:\Program Files\Palm\(your username)\Backup\PregTrak5_Data.pdb

1. Start DB-Editor.  Go to File, then Open, and navigate to the the file above to open it.  Your data should now be visible.

2. It will be helpful to add this file to your Favorites for future use.  Go to Favorites, then Add opened file.  You can now go to Favorites to reopen this file quickly when restarting DB-Editor

3. Make sure your Notes section is showing multiple lines.  Go to View, then Options, then Width & Height.  Make sure the Autosize row height for multiple lines box is checked.  Hit Ok  You only need to do this the first time

Q: How do I import my old delivery data from HandBase?

A: If you would like to import your old delivery data from HandBase into Pilot-DB, first use HandBase's desktop program to export your delivery data to a .CSV file.

1. Make sure you have any open databases closed in DB-Editor for now (Go to File, then Close)

2. Then, from within DB-Editor, go to File, and then Import, then CSV.  Select your CSV file, and then hit the Import button using the default options

3. You should now see your data, but now you need to copy it into your existing PregTrak5_Data.pdb file.  Go to Edit, and then Select All.  Then go to Edit, and then Copy Rows.

4. Go to Favorites, and select PregTrak5_Data (assuming you have already done the above steps in the previous question).  If it asks you to Save changes, you can hit No for now.

5. Place the cursor (using the mouse) on the first EMPTY line under the Name heading.  If you DON'T do this things get messy for some reason when pasting data.

6. Go to Edit, and then Paste Rows.  You should now have your delivery data merged.  You can sort it by clicking on the Name heading if you like.

7. Now go to File, and then Save.  THEN go back to File, and then Install, and then hit Done.  The next time you HotSync all your data will be on your Palm now.

*** If it seems difficult, don't worry, it only needs to be done once!
